The Expos' Decision to Move Games to San Juan and Monterey

In 2003, the Montreal Expos rejected a proposal to move games to San Juan or Monterey, Mexico. MLB eventually won out and scheduled 22 more Expos home games in Puerto Rico in 2004. On September 29, 2004, hours before their final home game of the season in Montreal, MLB announced that the Expos would move to Washington, D.C., at the start of the 2005 season.
