Women will preferentially shift fat deposition towards subcutaneous adipose tissue in the gluteal femoral region in the hips and thighs. This is actually protective in the pre menopausal period against visceral fat accumulation. It's associated with a wider range of potential cardiometabolic benefits that are not observed with central adiposity. And its primary driver is estrogen in this regard.
