The Importance of Phonemic Awareness in Reading
Margie, Lori and I have been doing a lot of research on phonemic awareness. Do we do advanced phonemic awareness manipulation tasks? Are those necessary or not? And also is it a prerequisite to reading like do you have to master these phonemic awareness skills before you let kids start the reading process? We want to jump into phonemic awareness early on and teach these skills again as an oral and auditory warmup.
