Is There a Space for Conversations?

I see a design as a spectrum and I like to oscillate between one pole of practical solution-based and then speculative, which is more conceptual. So with my work, sometimes the objects I did in my PhD, some of them were very critical and not really functional, they were just good triggers for conversations about practices that were often very private. They really enabled people to have that conversation because they showed something that often was uncomfortable and maybe hidden. Design can give visual tangibility to ideas of things or feelings or experiences,. Once it's out there, then you can use it to have conversations and people will interpret that in different ways.
