The Third Party Condition Doesn't Create the Virtuous Victim Effect

In the eepad theft story, the theft happens a in a context where the victim is actually not present writes. And so how it reads is sarah sort of just asserting, when i was out, gabriel stole my eye,. but she's not justifying that with particular evidence. So one thing that we wondered is, does the first person version fail to create this virtuous victim effect? Because people are questioning the veracity of the narrative. If they don't believe that you are telling the truth, you're probably not going to benefit from the virtuous victim of fact.
