Meditation - Is There a Gradual Approach to Training?

The three levels of meditation are focused attention, meta awareness and deconstructive practices like self inquiry and non dual. The first thing that happens is the pointing out instruction where the master is able to just give you a subtle shift in awareness. It's possible we now know from the research that people can undergo all sorts of really negative experiences through intensive meditation as well. We should always be aware of the possibility of these things arising because that makes it easier for the mind to integrate these experiences.
