The Concept of Partial Melting in Sea Ice
Collin: One of the thingsthat we've been doing is leaning a lot on models that have been developed for earth, for sea ice. We're using this idea of u having a mushy zone, a region of sort of partial melting. And so the physical question we're after is, if you add sheer heating to this, do you produce a zone of partial melt around the fracture? Collin: I think the key components to our thinking in these systems is identifying a question or a topic and finding a tool to analyze it.
