Moses took over the parks department in january of 30 fourt. He hired for men whom they called ramrods, to make sure that jobs were getting done right and to really push through these jobs with a hihr rstandard. Moses hired 600 out of work engineers and architects to draw up plans for all kinds of parks projectsand he expected them to worked very long, gruelling, 14 hour days just to crank out enough plans to keep the money flowing from washington to new york city parks department.
