The Importance of Elite Overproduction

Excessive competition is bad for the society because it leads to increasing a conflict amongst the elites. As this conflict becomes more and more elevated, the social norms and institutions that govern elite rotation start to get broken down. Many individual elites who are losing proportion of losing elite aspirants decide to break the rules and try to get what they want in a different way. And so these people become what you call the counter-relates. Counter-relates are those who work to overthrow to what to them is the unjust social order and they aim to replace themselves.
