The Four Corners of the Liberal Project

David Frum: I've been thinking a lot about that phrase that people say is a retort when they say that's just semantics. It seems to me like kind of an avoidance of maybe the most important piece of a conversation, right? If you're not speaking the same language, if you don't get into the semantics, then how are you having the same conversation? Well, then you don't know. So let me sketch out what I see as the four corners of what I would describe as the liberal project. And just in very broad brushstrokes, I would frame it out as political liberalism, economic liberalism, intellectual liberalism and something like civic liberalism or it could be cultural
