Hamilton's Hurricane Letter

Hugh Knox was so impressed with Hamilton's hurricane letter that he steered it to the local paper. The young Hamilton exhorts his readers, O vain mortal, check thy ill-timed joy. That same year, Hamilton composed a Christian hymn as well. And it was a hymn that his future wife, Eliza, would come to prize and cling to in the half century she outlived him.
