The Knights of Labor
The knights of labor was a largely the largest political organization of workers in the nineteenth century. It at its peak around 18 86, had about a million formal members and probably more that were participating in the activities but not yet formal members. Their idea was to abolish wage labor and substitute in a form of co operative production. They thought it was fundamentally about emancipating workers by having them control the data day operations of the work place.
