The Unimportant of Plot in the Film Noir
Faulkner and the other writer and Hawks were drinking at 3 a.m. when I working on the script. They didn't know who killed the first guy that gets killed in the novel. Faulkner called up Chandler Marlow, who was still awake drinking. And he, he, he went back to the novel and he's like, you know, I don't know. So it just shows, of course, that's the lesson is the unimportant of plot in film noir.
