Strange Rites, New Religions for a Godless World
New book argues that Americans are embracing a kaleidoscope of spiritual traditions, rituals and sub cultures. Author tera isabella burton says this has involved what she describes as a shift from institutional religion to intuitional religion. The army of the unaffiliated or disaffiliated can give the impression that they're drifting into the ranks of the atheist or the agnostic,. But i think this is hopeful. I'll use a glass half full sort of approach. They're not just drifting into complete irreligion, but into some now, for my tive, inadequate and sometimes weird and very odd, but some form of religiosity, some search for meaning.
