The Disaster of the First World War for Germany
In 19 18, germany was winning the first world war. And then in a matter of months, the tide turned and the german state collapsed. The kaiser abdicated. His regime was cast into history. A new kind of state had to be built. But the new state hadn't been built yet. In january there was an attempt to establish a bolshevik republic. That was the context in which weber was speaking.
