The Thylacine jaw is rather unusual. In the first place they could open it at an 80 degree angle so almost a full 90 degree right angle. They would sometimes warn people away by opening their mouths really wide in a kind of threat yawn and showing their teeth. Their stomachs also were expandable which meant that they could gorge themselves in a single feeding so that they wouldn't have to eat again for a longer period of time. But despite these features at least according to some accounts their jaws were rather weak.
