The Importance of Maritime History

The National Endowment for the Humanities helped fund a number of us to serve as cultural interpreters of America's maritime history. I spent only about 18 hours on that ship. They took very cautious short legs up the New England coast to try to not take any risks with this immensely important vessel. And we had the chance to sleep in the folksal, which is spelled forecastle, but pronounced folksal.
