The Origins of Plague in Eurasia

Scientists have improved the technology that is used to take DNA out of really ancient bones and analyze it. This has transformed our understanding of the movement of people, but increasingly scientists are beginning to look at the non-human DNA that was found in the sample. So for example, if someone dies of an infectious disease, their blood will be full of the pathogens that killed them. Scientists can also not just identify the DNA of humans, but also the DNA of the pathogens these people died from.
