The Untaught History of Reconstruction
The true history of reconstruction has gone untaught for so long that we don't even know what we don't know. textbooks often refer to reconstruction as a failure or have that like successes versus failure. They tend to dedicate a lot of space to governments and white elites and ex confederates. And they often relegate marginalized people to the actual margins of the page.
