What's the Difference Between a Solid and a Loose Pile of Rocks?
We've only been able to get a really loose, fuzzy picture of what this system looks like. Scientists are pretty confident that the parent body denemos is a rubble pile. But they haven't got any direct images of dimorphos surface so it's really hard to know what it actually looks like. In order to simulate what happens when the dart craft hits this asteroid, we need to know or we need to have some kind of range of expectations.
