Cannibalism From Prehistory?
Anthropologists working with the amazon rain forest in Brazil have recorded very good aptents for cannibalism. They would roast a body, and then some of their relatives would eat part of the flesh. This was to help the family grief through the horrible process of a loved one dying. Now they don't do this any more - now they sort of bury their dead after a couple of days of mourning. It is really powerful to remember that we tend to assume that when someone dies, we're going to bury them,. But we also learn byit that globalization and colonialism has removed a lot of other practices from prehistory.
