Predicting the Weather
There are certain states of the climate system that may lead to more predictable behaviour than others. This is one of the exciting things about a particular area of research art now called sub seasonal prediction. It wasn't until the last five years or so that a huge international effort has been put forth to investigate those time scales and ask the question, can we make predictions on that time scale at all?
