In normal bridges, what happens is you lock the tokens into the first chain and then you mint the synthetic or wrap tokens into the second chain. The tokens that you own on the second chain are not native to that chain. So in the case when the 51% attack happens, the hacker is able to reverse the transactions in the first chain. It's a pretty scary scenario.
