The Cipher - A Crime Story
The cryptogram contained 136 characters organized into eight neat rows and 17 columns. All three newspapers debated whether or not to print the cipher as instructed. The editors finally decided to publish the cryptogram, but refused to meet the author's demands regarding the dead line or front page spot. Investigators couldn't be certain of the author's guilt until he disclosed more details about the crimes.
