The Role of Judiciary in the United States

The role of the supreme court has come under great scrutiny in recent weeks and months. The idea that unelected judges should have the ability to strike down laws passed by elected representatives is seen as anti-democratic. Unlike other countries, America also has perhaps the hardest amendment process for constitutional change. So you essentially limit the capacity for popular majorities to exercise authority of the constitution. Then you funnel decision making into ort that is globally unique for the amount of power that it has.
