What Columbus Did and Approved
When columbus was around, it seems that sometimes he said some disapproving things and tried to restrain it. Ah, but thetimes he approved, or at least acquiesced in this kind of violence. And there's a famous passage where one of columbus's lieutenants says, you know, we captured some natives. Columbus gave one of the women to me. A meaning he sort of gave permission for this lieutenant to take this woman captive, and he then raped her.
