The Romans were keen observers of what happened in Barbariqum and did their best to poke and prod with money, threats, and military force. This stability there produced both a lack of coherent threat to Rome and a surplus of military recruits. The fact that we don't hear from the Karpi to name one group after they entered the empire probably has as much to do with the fact that our surviving sources literally don't care about them as with an attempt to forcibly integrate them into Roman society.
