The ancient Greeks believed that there were four humors in the body and that they needed to be in proper balance. If anything was out of whack, it meant that one of the humors had too much juju. They started bloodletting in men to mimic something that they thought was a natural way of getting rid of something evil or negative. So that's how bloodletting came about.
