Self Spreading Engineered Virals - What's the Difference?
Self spreading viruses and vaccines are basically lab modified viruses that are developed to spread between hosts in the environment. The motivation behind some of the research that's going on right now is to use these kinds of acines for wild life management. Back in the late eighties, we had australian researchers that were developing different ways to tryto either sterilize or kill wild life. They were trying to protect native wild rabbits using self spreading viruses. So as you were saying in the introduction, this idea has been around for a while, but it's kind of come back now in the last five years.
