The Costs of Ideological Self-Segregation
I'm actually someone who's greatly in favor of ideological self-segregation. But one of the costs of this is unless you pass some kind of rear purity test, you're immediately regarded as our group. I don't even like to describe myself as center-leaning or like a centrist for that reason. The problem is the groups in the world have expanded to encompass everything so that there's like, we try to fit everybody into like two groups in the United States.
