The Importance of Address in My Poetry
I think it's so much about clothing and stitching and the idea of a wound and stitches, like there's all kinds of metaphors I have to do with clothing. And it's because my mother was a seamstress, you know, and I hadn't even put that together. Like, isn't that strange? My mother has been a seamstress and she made all of our clothes when I was a child for as long as I've been alive. But it didn't occur to me that that was a major undercurrent for all my poems for 23 years. Like, how come we don't know we're writing?
