Railroad workers have been on call seven days a week, away from home and 90 plus hours a week. Nearly forty thousand railroad jobs were lost between 20 18 and 20 20 alone. The work force has dropped from one million workers in the 19 fifties to fewer than a hundred 50000 in 20 22. Workers that are remaining have been stretched thinner and thinner while management makes money hand over fist.
