The Land of Shinar in the Book of Daniel
The land of shina is perhaps best known to us from genesis chapter 11. This attempt to gather all people together in a universal kingdom and build a tower between heaven and earth was frustrated by the lord. The book has a number of different edifices that rise up and are brought down, whether that's the great image of nebuchadnezzar or the statue he builds. A further dominant theme in the book of daniel is the attempt to establish universal empire. Perhaps the greatest message of the book ofdaniel is that the lord alone has the kingdom.
