A couple of years ago, i wrote a paper for part of our global china project in the foreign policy programme at brookings. It was on the china pakestan economic corridor, which is the flagship of the belton road initiative. The role of both the chinese and pacastani states in controlling the narrative surrounding that area came across my radar screen. I wanted to look into it more, you know, sort of, when did it start? Isit still continuing? What kind of impact is it having? And then, more broadly, is this a practice that is isolated to pakistan?
