The reason why we have all this incredible procedure and people weighing in is that's kind of the court's legitimacy. They don't just decide. They're supposed to say how we're going to go ahead with a particular idea. And the idea here is that we've handed so much power over to the supreme court sometimes really life altering decisions in the lives of ordinary people. Unless you practise non-romanto law, nobody has ever done it.
