The New Roman Woman
Some feminist scholars have seen paul as abandoning his true principles at this point. Others see it more as a curb upon the excesses of an extreme feminist movement. Paul is not allowing women to teach or exercise authority over men, but if circumstances were to change he would have no issue with it. The gospel sets a time bomb next to the submission of women, but it will be many centuries before it truly explodes.
