Is the Drop in Humanities Degrees a Reflection of Higher Education?

enrollment in the humanities and many social sciences has been plummeting for quite a while. Is this basically a phenomenon of student debt and the increasingly bleak labor market coercing poor students into ensuring that their credentials will deliver the return they need to pay off their loans or which would then leave pure liberal arts pursuit of critical thinking for its own sake? That's part of it. But at the same time, there's a great extent to which the increasing specialization in the so-called STEM fields is a policy choice.
