The Importance of Predicting the Future
I think that reality is more elegant than our dirty calculations at the moment. I believe there's very good reason for believing there is something in this and I wanted to put there some concrete things that could happen in the future that would demonstrate progress. That's what I was trying to do. If you ask me to bet will all of those six things be verified in my lifetime or that right then? No, probably not! But I simply wanted to show that there are things that these things do think about the real world, right, and there are reasons to believe we're going to see them. So it was slightly less, slightly more modest than a tub-thumping generation of it.
