The New Attorney General's Response to the Strikes

Many assumed the country's new attorney general would be sympathetic to these strikers. As a congressman, palmer had built his political career campaigning for women suffrage and support for unions. He was also a pacifist quaker who turned down the chance to be secretary of war due to his religious beliefs. Palmer didn't intervene in the strikes or accuse the forces behind them of socialism or anarchism. But soon after a series of attacks that came right to his doorstep, he became the driving force behind a new nation wide crusade against radical enemies of the state.
