Introduction
September thirtieth was the chosen date because it was around this time that kids were taken from homes and sent to residential schools. It was a day meant to honor survivors of these schools by wearing orange and revisiting their history. This year, orange short days been turned into a federal statutory holiday - september thirtieth is the first ever national day for truth and reconciliation.
