Amicus Briefs - What Are They?
Amicus or micus is latin for a friend. In the last decade or so it has morfe into something else, entirely just a mountain of anonimously funded briefs pushing particular agenda. Just to give you a sense of how rapidly this is exploding right now, amici filed 781 briefs in the 20 14 supreme court term. And forty some high pro all cases will even draw more than a hundred amicus briefs.
