Archaeological evidence of pilot was discovered in 19 61. Inscription had originally been a dedication to some sort of building for emperor tiberius. And it was dedicated by pontius pilot, prefect of judea - the name and title that appears on this latin inscription. A couple of years ago there was a ring of pilot, or at least with his name his seal, found at herodium. So those, those two things are really give us the name and the position of pilot. We have ancient sources like josephus and tacitus and philo the reference pilot. Then we have structures that are also connected to pilot and the gospel that have been explored
