The Rise of the Taifa Kings
In 1031 the last of the Umayyad Calas was deposed in Cordoba. In place of the western Caliphate, under Lucia saw the rise of the so-called Taifa kings. Christian successes led the Taifa kings to seek support from northern Africa. The Berber group known as the Anmoravids was only too happy to help. They re-established a centralized authority in Andalusia but they would rule for less than a century.
