Is There an Obligation to Share the Dread of Loss?
Sally Kohn: It feels like part of my job as their parent is to see them sort of watch a butterfly with wonder, and then pull myself out of that sadness so that i don't inflict on them. What obligation do i have to allow them the moment of appreciation, or impose our own crushing, peremptive despair about what's coming upon them? Kohn: I think we only have to talk about this from the angle of despair; it's also important to pay attention to the manifold, unbelievable things that we still have.
