The Global Shortage of Chips in the Automotive Industry
There are basically four reasons that led to this huge global shortage. In Taiwan, as well insufficient winter rain amounts resulted in droughts. As a consequence, there were power outages in TSMC's chip fabrication plants. So when you have the power outage, the whole fabrication process is lost. You need to start from scratch. And in Europe, I think the car makers made poor judgments about demands. They relied on this principle of just in time production. Well, that really helps us to understand the industry.
