The History of the Klan
When people think of the KKK, many often think of poor, rural white southerners. The Klan drew its members from all social classes - lawyers, doctors and church ministers. Many police officers and politicians were also members, or at least supportive,. meaning that the crimes it committed very often went uninvestigated. But as we'll see, the racial tensions that gave birth to the KKK were still bubbling away beneath the surface.
