The Antiquated Nature of Property Tax Assessments
I've been astounded by the kind of antiquated nature of property tax assessments. I have seen as recently as two years ago, assessment offices that are still using crayon drawings and note cards to do this work. One of the reasons why is that they're really not trying very hard to get it right. It's just when the property tax bill comes that you think about it, whereas the assessors are thinking about it pretty much all the time.
