Muon G-2
University of Manchester physicist Mark Lancaster and his team created muons at the Fermilab Particle Accelerator, a large collider just outside Chicago. According to the standard model muons should have a certain amount of spin but when the physicists measured that spin by sending the muons through a magnetic field they seemed to get an unexpected answer which may put the standard model of physics in jeopardy.
