The Importance of Engagement as Global Citizens
The American Revolution was seen as a moment when Americans turned their back on Europe. But in fact, the elites wanted freedom to live an aristocratic lifestyle that they could not have had they stayed in Europe. And I think this continues in as soon as Americans win the war, they are really concerned about retaining connections to European powers. We don't talk about this continuing dependence on the globe.
