Diana finally had an interview of her own. She snuck TV crew into Kensington Palace where she opened up further about her struggles, her bulimia and her PPD. Martin Bashir played into that by doctoring fake bank statements to make it seem like members of the inner circle were selling secrets to the British intelligence services. Diana was already paranoid that the royal family was spying on her and plotting something behind her back. In 2021, both Prince William and Harry released statements blaming the BBC for contributing to Diana's paranoia at the time.
